Ponrepo in Art: restored gems of the Czech movie industry

In 1980’s Brno had its Ponrepo movie theater which showed movies from the Czechoslovak Film Archive. During two days in February we will revive this tradition by “Ponrepo in Art” with films from the National Film Archive.

Do not expect broken and grainy copies! In fact, what you will see are five films from the project known as Digital restoration of Czech film heritage. And that means maximum quality.  As a preview, Gustav Machatý’s film Ze soboty na neděli (1931), followed by discussion with Jeanne Pommeau who was in charge of the restoration project and who can tell you everything you wanted to know about digitization.
